The University of North Alabama (UNA) is a public university located in Florence, Alabama. Established in 1830, it is one of the oldest state-supported institutions of higher learning in the United States. UNA offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs and is governed by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.
Unlike private universities, which rely heavily on tuition and private funding, UNA receives state appropriations and operates as part of Alabama’s public higher education system. It is not affiliated with Educo, which is a separate entity. UNA’s public status ensures lower tuition rates for in-state students.
