Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is a public university located in Toronto, Canada. It was formerly known as Ryerson University and was renamed in 2022. TMU is funded by the provincial government and operates as a public institution.
Toronto Metropolitan International College (TMIC), however, is a private pathway college affiliated with TMU. It offers programs designed to prepare international students for admission to the university. While TMIC collaborates with TMU, it operates independently as a private entity. Therefore, TMU is public, while TMIC is private.
